Biography
Self taught guitarist Berin Riley has developed a distinctive technique, drawing from a wide range of influences, including Nashville country music and the blues of Eric Clapton, BB King and other styles, notably that of Mark Knopfler.
Berin's melodic finger style is ideal for Music from the Sofa. His twenty five years of experience working in South East country and blues bands has meant he has both the technique and understanding to respond to the varied styles in Nigel Goss's music.
Berin has found working in Music from the Sofa exciting as it gives him the opportunity to demonstrate his talent for improvisation in an original music context rather than his previous roles as purveyor of cover numbers, however obscure.
Music from the Sofa could be Berin's musical home and both he and the band are delighted he responded to Nigel's advertisement for a 'grown up' guitarist.
Berin is based in Kent and comes from a musical family - his brother Lyndon is a well known trumpeter and pianist in Oslo, Norway and is the leader of the band Captain Gone
